Before you go

Trekking at altitude

Acclimatisation

Above 2,500m the body needs time to adjust. We build the route so height is gained gradually, with rest days where needed, and follow the principle of climbing high and sleeping low.

Altitude sickness

Learn the symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness before you travel and tell your guide immediately if you feel unwell. Guides are experienced in spotting it early and will adjust the plan.

Hydration and pace

Most people need four to six litres of fluid a day at altitude. The pace is set deliberately slow, going steadily is what gets people there.

Insurance

Your policy must cover trekking to the maximum altitude of this itinerary and emergency evacuation. We do not provide insurance or rescue cover.
