Description

Located in the heart of Baltistan, within the mighty Karakoram Range, Charakusa Valley is one of the most isolated and breathtaking trekking destinations on Earth. Often described as a mountaineer’s paradise, Baltistan is home to four of the world’s fourteen 8,000-meter peaks, hundreds of dramatic 7,000-meter summits, and legendary trekking routes.

While much of Karakoram trekking focuses on the famous Baltoro Glacier, Charakusa remains largely untouched — a hidden valley guarded by soaring granite towers, pristine glaciers, and fairytale-like mountains. Nestled away from the crowds, this trek leads deep into a remote alpine wilderness where perfect rock walls rise straight from the ice and silence dominates the landscape.

Beyond its natural grandeur, Baltistan is rich in culture and warmth. Along the way, you’ll encounter lush green pastures, glacial streams, emerald lakes, apricot orchards, and the ever-welcoming Balti people. The Charakusa Valley Trek is not just a journey through mountains — it’s an immersion into one of the planet’s last truly wild places.

Trip Itinerary

  • Arrive at Islamabad International Airport and meet your guide for transfer to the hotel. After rest and lunch, attend a detailed trip briefing. In the afternoon, visit local markets for essentials and currency exchange, followed by sightseeing at Lok Virsa Museum and the iconic Shah Faisal Mosque.

  • Enjoy a spectacular scenic flight offering aerial views of Nanga Parbat and surrounding peaks. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Skardu. Visit Skardu Bazaar and the ancient Manthal Rock Buddha. Later, walk to Nansoq Village — Baltistan’s first organic village — to experience local life and hospitality before returning to Skardu.

    Alternative: In case of flight cancellation, drive from Islamabad to Chilas via the Karakoram Highway.

  • Drive through the stunning landscapes of the Ghanche district, passing rivers, villages, and suspension bridges. Visit Yugo Village for an immersive cultural experience — explore farmlands, interact with locals, observe traditional practices, and enjoy a home-cooked Balti lunch. Continue onward to Hushe Valley and check into the lodge.

  • After breakfast, begin trekking from the last inhabited village of Hushe to Saitcho campsite. This is an easy, scenic walk with ample time in the afternoon to relax and explore the surroundings.
