Description

Located in the heart of Baltistan within the majestic Karakoram Range, Nangma Valley is one of the most visually stunning yet relatively undiscovered trekking destinations in Pakistan.

Often described as a natural amphitheater of granite towers, the valley is surrounded by dramatic rock walls and iconic peaks including Amin Brakk, Haldi Cones, Chogho Brak, and Grey Tower. When Austrian climber Eduard Koblmiller first explored the valley during his K6 expedition in 1970, he described it as a place of “unusual and primordial beauty.”

Unlike many high-altitude treks in the Karakoram, Nangma Valley is surprisingly accessible. A short trek from the village of Kanday leads into lush green meadows, glacial streams, and breathtaking alpine scenery. The valley has become a paradise for rock climbers, photographers, and nature lovers seeking dramatic mountain landscapes without extremely technical trekking.

Trip Itinerary

  • Arrive at Islamabad International Airport and transfer to your hotel. After some rest, attend a trek briefing and explore local markets. Visit Lok Virsa Museum and the iconic Shah Faisal Mosque.

  • Take a spectacular scenic flight over the Himalaya and Karakoram ranges with views of Nanga Parbat. Upon arrival, explore Skardu Bazaar and visit the ancient Manthal Rock Buddha before returning to the hotel.

    Alternative: In case of flight cancellation, travel by road to Chilas via the Karakoram Highway.

  • Drive through scenic valleys and villages along the Indus and Shyok Rivers. Stop at viewpoints and suspension bridges before visiting Yugo Village for a cultural experience and traditional Balti lunch. Continue to Khaplu and enjoy a sunset hike to Hanjor Broq.

  • Drive to Kanday village, the starting point of the trek. Begin hiking through narrow valleys and forested slopes before reaching Mingulo Broq (3500 m), a beautiful pasture campsite surrounded by pine trees and glacial streams.
